Pinspiration - The Living Room Edition

Our ideas for the living room are quite like minded.

All walls will most likely to be white but I like the idea of having a dark grey feature wall. Art prints will be on the wall too. The flooring, we can't decide on carpet or wooden floors but I'm hoping to sway Calum with a wooden floor and a lovely big rug..

We both want a fabric grey sofa. I don't think we will be getting one from Ikea but love the idea of this one. It took me a while to convince myself with grey as I had my heart set on a navy sofa from

Furniture wise; I don't know if I want white furniture in the living room. I'm not a big fan of the wood look either, but I think a mix of both would be good. I want a book case in this room, not only for my books but for all my little trinkets too. I adore the Billy book case from Ikea - either in white or oak veneer, and if I did get them I would probably get two. But  I also like this Vittsjo shelving unit, where I could stack my books quite prettily and it gives off a minimalistic effect.

Regarding other items of furniture such as side tables, a coffee table etc, I don't have an idea for. I want something that's not from Ikea, that's maybe an oak colour (or white.. ugh) that's quite minimalistic. I do know without a doubt I want this standing lamp, the copper colour attracted me straight away!

Who doesn't love a good shelfie eh? I don't think I would want shelves all over the walls in any of the rooms, I would rather buy a standing unit as previously stated. I will write a different post to some items I'm lusting after to put on some beautiful shelves!

Now, if Calum does want to go for the wooden floor like myself, I think this rug would make the house feel like home. To me, it looks so welcoming and cosy..

I think if we had a fire place like this, we wouldn't ever change it! Unfortunately, fire places like this is quite hard to come by, especially in Edinburgh. We have said if we get a fire that's like this we would get a marble surround. If not, we would take the fire out and fill it with logs for a country cabin effect.

What's your living room ideas?
