Goodbye 2016

Well what can I really say about 2016? I have achieved a lot this year, from getting a new job to completing things on my bucket list in London. Calum and I also have the ball rolling for getting onto the property ladder too. College is done and dusted, and a lot of memories have been made in general.

But if I'm honest, I'm glad this year is over. I wouldn't exactly replay this year..

The most wonderful time of the year has came round again so fast! It just seem's like yesterday when I was taking down the stockings from the fireplace from last Christmas. I love this time of year, not just for the novelty of Christmas, but it seem's to be when people are most charitable.

Autumn is Here!

Autumn is my favourite time of year closely followed by Winter! I thought I would do a little round up of my five favourite things I'm looking forward to this season:

Movie nights with a million blankets
There's nothing better than snuggling up with only some candles burning watching awesome movies. Even making a den from the blankets is an ultimate Autumn goal, maybe even with a little picnic!

My top 20 favourite Disney songs

Ever since I can remember, Disney has been a massive part of my life! Who cares if I'm 25 years old now? There is nothing more satisfying than having a pyjama day, snuggled up in your duvet with snacks, watching your favourite Disney film.

I feel like since I started to blog, I've discovered a whole new world of girls my age who I can speak to about Disney, since a lot of people where I live don't share the same passion. Below are my favourite ever Disney songs. Enjoy!

1. Part of Your World - The Little Mermaid

We made chicken tikka massalam!

Calum and I have been loving Indian food lately, so we thought we would have a shot at making our own from scratch!

Thank You

When I was little, I believed in fairy tales. In fact, I still do. I believed that princes and knights in shining armour thunder along on their horses to save the princess from evil. And that they lived happily ever after.

For a lot of years, I didn't think my fairy tale would ever happen. I felt I would never really find someone who understood me, loved me for who I am..

Then I met you.

Struggling to Sleep

Ever struggled to sleep? I think I do so every night. Sometimes my heart is racing too much as I get anxious, sometimes I have too much on my mind, sometimes it can be the simple things like its too hot or too cold!

Sometimes life just gets in the way..

Oh how I've missed my blog! I do apologise for not writing in so long but life happens.

25 things I've learned in my 25 years

I can't believe I'm now 25! I was a bit apprehensive about turning quarter of a century, it sounds so scary. But I feel like a proper adult now. A proper adult who has 25 years of life experience under my belt. I thought I would write 25 lessons I've learned so far..

Five Happy Things #3

I feel like I haven't blogged in forever! Since coming back from London, its been so hectic - trying to get my head down in my new job as there is a lot to learn, trying to get my college assessments out the way and Calum's birthday. But since coming back, things have been looking up.

Calum and I booked a long weekend away to London at the start of the year, and I couldn't wait to go! It feels like we only decided to go last week..

We decided to fly down from Edinburgh to cut some time off travelling, but by the time we got to Gatwick, then the shuttle to the south terminal to catch a train and a taxi - we were dead beat. We stayed at a hotel called the Kensington Close Hotel, which is just off Kensington High Street. The place is so posh I genuinely thought we came to the wrong place! There was a man at the door with a top hat and tails to grab our bag from the taxi, then the concierge came to take it to our room. As soon as we went in, Calum noticed the room service menu and he got a little too happy ordering food and drinks. We just chilled in the room the rest of the night and unpacked, to start early the next day.

I have been thinking a lot about friendships over the past few weeks. Thinking back over the years, I've had a lot of friends. One's I went to school with, childhood friends, friends I made due to my parents being friends with theirs, friends at clubs.. the list is endless!

Five things on my Bucket List - 2016 edition

I have thought of a yearly series of five things I really want to do or achieve this year on my bucket list. Not all of this will be to everyone's taste, so please remember this is for me and not to please everyone else.

Self Improvement

1. Learn something new
Whether it be an open learning course like myself, evening classes, learning the guitar or another language.. this can open all a whole new different kind of opportunities! I personally wanted to study a higher level of what I done in my apprenticeship so it could further my career in the long run. I'm also looking into doing a course on Bach Remedies as I use these just now from my complimentary therapy sessions and it just looks so interesting.

Mothers Day!

I love my Mum. But everyone does, don't they? I wanted to write a post to show how much I appreciate her for the things she does for me. I know I'm 24, but being an only child, my mum is always there for me even if its something so small and insignificant.

Five Happy Things #2

1. I have a new job!
I'm so excited! I've been working as an administrator since I was 16, but in the last year or so I have worked in the construction sector as a document controller. I tried my best to stick it out but the job's not really for me, so I applied for hundreds of other roles. This was my second interview since the start of the year and I'm so pleased I got it! The office looks amazing and my new colleagues are all lovely.

Five ways I take time out

I'm always a busy bee whether its work, college, spending time with Calum, family and friends, etc. I just can't seem to get my brain to just stop and take time away from everything sometimes. So I thought I would write a few things I do to just "escape the norm".
1. Getting my nails and eyebrows done
Every three weeks I pop into the beauty salon, which I have been going to for about 5 years now, to get my nails and eyebrows done. My nails are Calgel, which doesn't ruin your nails (yay), with a shellac colour on top. The colour in this photo is Field Fox. They take about an hour to put on, but they make me feel like me when they're on and I love having a catch up with the girls! Regarding my eyebrows, they are HD. This means they are dyed, waxed, threaded and tweezed to achieve the perfect colour and shape.

Our Valentines Day!

So from my last post regarding what we were doing on Valentines Day failed, I thought I'd share on what we done instead! We were meant to go to the Highland Wildlife Park in the Cairngorms but the snow there was horrendous, so we decided to go to St Andrews Aquarium.. then the snow hit there too..

Do I regret not going to university?

When I was a little girl, I always said I wanted to be a nurse. I used to spend hours pretending my teddy bears and dolls were patients, or I'd pick on family members to have a bandage wrapped around their head.
When I got to high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I felt like I had to follow the crowd, so I applied to go to college for beauty therapy, but I didn't hear back in time as I got an apprenticeship by then. If you asked me what a business and administration apprentice was back when I was in high school I wouldn't have a clue. I don't know anyone who dreamed to be an office worker. I use the term office worker, as since I have left school I have worked for three different companies, firstly as an office administrator/receptionist, then senior administrator and now document controller.

Tips for working full time, studying and having a social life

People must think I'm mad sometimes when I tell them that I have a 42.5 hour a week job, studying a college course and STILL have the time to socialise!
I work as an Administrator for a construction company, so I've had to get used to the long hours quickly. The only two good things about working all these hours is the pay and finishing at 2:30pm on a Friday.

Desk Goals

Oh Pinterest, why do you taunt me?
I have a whole board on  Pinterest just covering the office area and desks. We hope when we eventually get a house to make the smallest bedroom into a little office area and I can't wait! It would be so handy for me for college work and for blogging. Calum also has a gaming PC so we would need to get a couple desks for the room.

Love is in the air!

I can't believe Valentine's day is nearly upon us already! Before Calum and I got together, I never really experienced Valentine's day. I think once I went to the cinema with someone I was dating but that was it - I don't think the cinema is the best date as you can't really talk. I also remember when I was a kid, my mum and dad would "post" a couple valentines cards though the door - I had a shock one year when I genuinely got a Valentines card from someone!

Pinspiration - The Bedroom Edition

Calum and I have been saving up for a deposit for a home for a little while now, and luckily where we live there are schemes we can join so the cost is less.

As we are getting nearer to our goal, we have been discussing interiors a lot, so much so I'm beginning to annoy him haha!

We have always said we want it to be a cosy little safe haven, but we can't decide on how it would look. Calum likes the modern look, and I prefer vintage/farmhouse look. We are trying to combine both our ideas together so we can both enjoy picking things.

Pinspiration - The Living Room Edition

Our ideas for the living room are quite like minded.

All walls will most likely to be white but I like the idea of having a dark grey feature wall. Art prints will be on the wall too. The flooring, we can't decide on carpet or wooden floors but I'm hoping to sway Calum with a wooden floor and a lovely big rug..

We both want a fabric grey sofa. I don't think we will be getting one from Ikea but love the idea of this one. It took me a while to convince myself with grey as I had my heart set on a navy sofa from

Five Quotes I Love #1

When I was younger, I used to try and follow the crowd and not indulge in my real interests. I remember telling someone I was interested in history once and I was name called for it. But now, I don't care. If it makes you happy, go for it.

My Nightly Skincare Routine

Like everyone else, it has taken me YEARS to get a combination of skincare products to work with my skin! I suffer from acne at times, dry skin on my nose, oily forehead.. the list is endless.
I went through a faze of buying lots of products, some very expensive, but I've discovered that just because it's more expensive doesn't mean it will be right for you.
But these products work great together for me so I thought I'd share what my routine is.

YSL Souffle D'eclat

For the last month I have slowly fallen in love with the YSL make up range. I just love how light the make up feels and how the colours are so close to your skin tone!

New Ink!

I have been lusting over a new tattoo for ages, but I have so many ideas I have no idea what to get. I eventually went to my favourite tattoo studio in Edinburgh, Love Hate Tattoo, and booked myself in. Luckily, the tattoo artist was free straight away so I went ahead!

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation

I always change my foundation every so often due to feeling like it doesn't work with my skin anymore. So just before Christmas I stopped wearing Estee Lauder and decided to go to Debenhams to find a better alternative. I discovered the YSL counter, and the girl put me at ease instantly!

Hello 2016!

Two thousand and sixteen. I can't believe how the years have flown by already!
