Ingredients (hamburgers for two people):
- Half a pound of lean minced beef
- A handful of finely chopped onion, and also some sliced onion (separated, for on top)
- A small sprinkling of fresh chives
- 1 tsp of chilli powder
- Half a tsp of salt for flavour
- Half a tsp of pepper for flavour
- 2 tsp of olive oil (separate)
- Couple slices of reduced fat Swiss cheese
- Hamburger buns (gluten free for me and normal for Calum!)
- Any other vegetables you want to add on top (Calum added a tomato)
Instructions:
- Add the mince, finely chopped onion, chives, chilli powder, salt and pepper to a large bowl and mix with your hands until its all combined.
- Separate the mixture into two and make hamburger shaped patties
- Put on a baking tray and cover with cling film, then put in the fridge for about half an hour
- Once you're ready to eat, put a tsp of olive oil into the pan (we like our meat to cook in its own juices) and brown the meat. Leave on each side for a few minutes, turning them over periodically until they cook right through.
- Put another tsp of olive oil in another pan and add the sliced onion, making them crunchy for on top of the burger
- Once all ready, add to burger bun with any sauces you want to add, and enjoy!
- 1 large sweet potato (one was enough for us but adjust this if you like)
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- Half a tsp of salt
- Half a tsp of pepper
- Half a tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp of paprika
- Pre-heat the over to gas mark 6
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Leave to one side.
- If you want skin on potatoes, clean them thoroughly, if not, peel them
- Cut sweet potatoes into strips
- Add the chips into the bowl and use your hands to coat them in the mixture
- Once done, spread chips on a baking tray and add to oven
- Bake in the oven, turning them occasionally until they are brown
